Boo!

The rain looks like
It will stay away
For the trick-or-treaters

The house is spookified
All set and ready to go
Pictures will follow
Over the next couple of days
If I remember

I'm like a big 'ole kid
Decorating this place
Hub just shakes his head
And assembles what I ask him to

My little tiger
Is just waking up from her nap
Ready to get dressed
As a little tiger

We'll see how long the whiskers
Stay put on her face
Smudge-free

I love today :)

Happy Hallowe'en
Everybody!!

circa 1987

It's funny the things
You come across
While packing

This is my prom picture
A group of us went "stag"
No boys, no drama
But who were we kidding
There was always drama

This is myself and my best friend
(Still to this day)
Geez, I must have used an entire can
Of Alberta V0-5 hairspray that night
And the pearls make me smirk, too

I've only worn pearls twice
This night
And with my wedding gown

Anyway
I remember being particularly
Proud of my tan that year
Not so proud now, though
As I count more wrinkles than I should
At 37

So
Chuckle away
Make fun
It deserves it....

Pumpkin Thieves

Yeah, that's right.
The title says it all...

We head outside this morning
All set for my very smart 2 year old's
Preschool Hallowe'en Party..

"Where pumpkins, Mommy?"

Effin' fantastic.

Somebody stole her 2 effin' pumpkins
Right off our front step.

Who would effin' do that?!?!

They weren't "Jack-o-lantern'ed" yet
They weren't the best pumpkins
I've ever seen
They were just round
And orange
But, they were hers.

I look around
All my neighbours still have
THEIR pumpkins on their step
But trust me, I was looking closely
As if I'd be able to spot ours
Or something

"Where they go, Mommy?"

Somebody took them, honey.

"Why take them?"

'Cuz they're dumb stealers

LOL..that was the only response
I could think of

DAMN, I was mad!

So, out we go tomorrow
Back to the pumpkin farm
To pick some new ones

But I'm locking these ones in the garage
Until Monday

Along with the awesome scarecrow
I have in the front
Wonder why they didn't take that

I also wonder why my
Super watchdog Lab
Didn't hear or see anything..

Oh yeah, he was asleep in my room.
'Atta boy.

Holy %$#&!

Has it really almost been a week?!?!?

I've just been busier
Than a hooker on Payday
Around here..

Not sure if I mentioned
That the deal fell through
On selling this house
Yeah
They didn't sell theirs and
Pulled out

Great.

So it's been back on the market
Ever since
Tons of people traipsing through though
I always say "ignore the boxes"
Everyone "looooves" it
But they always have a friggen house to sell
We're not messing around with conditions at this point

So..what else...
Packing, mortgage stuff
Baby stuff, doctor's appt's
My mom hurt her back and was in the hospital
She's out now
My very smart 2 year old
Has been trying to shake a cold and cough
Since we got back from NYC
So she's been up most nights
Just with Mommy
Because Hub has been on nights all month

Busy, exhausting, frustrating, and stressful
That's what this week has been

I know...
Effin' exciting blog, eh?

Oh well
What can I say

I can't always be a barrel
Of effin' laughs
Now, can I?

;)

She says
"Wait until your 18 week ultrasound"
She says

Ok, says I.
What else am I gonne say?

But, it was cool SEEING the heartbeat
Before we get to HEAR it next week

In other news
TGIF
After tonight
Hub is off until Tuesday
His 3 day weekends
Make up for his 60-70 hours at work
Each week

But it's supposed to rain

You know what that means?

PACKING!

Hooray.

Peeking

Today, I get to peek inside
My belly
And see what all the fuss is about.

It's my Screening Ultrasound

Not my NORMAL ultrasound
Where they take pics of every angle
And look at valves, bones or organs
This one is to measure a certain neural fluid
In order to ensure you that your baby is perfect :)

See, I'm old ;)
So they SUGGEST I have it

No worries

But hopefully I'll still be able
To PEEK
I think this time we want to know
If we have a winky or a not-so-winky

Oh yeah
I'm also going alone this time
No big deal

We laugh because during your first
Pregnancy
The husbands or partners all make sure
They're off and join you at every
Ultrasound
Every appointment

Now that you know it's really no big deal
Except for the first heartbeat one
Now it's like
"I might be able to, we'll see"

Today? No.
Hub worked nights
And needs his sleep
I know that
But next week is the "Heartbeat Appointment"
So he'll be there

Although I may get to SEE that today, too.
That would be a plus

As for the winky or not-so-winky
That may be tough at 13 weeks

But if they can
I'm asking the Tech to write it down and fold it
And Hub and I will look at it together
Tonight

It's the least I can do.

Oops...I almost forgot

As TERRIBLE as I look
In this pic
As NYC on Saturday night
Was one, big chilly
Wind tunnel
(So no chuckling or grossing out ;) )

I want to share the pic with you

And the autograph

But the wave is mine alone...

:)

The Wave

Well, we're back.

Great, great trip
This was after we were delayed
On Friday getting there
Then yesetrday at LaGuardia
Was a nightmare
But we're home safe and sound.

Fiddler was outstanding
Our girl was terrific
Those critics can stick it
Where the sun don't shine...

So, the backstage tour
Of course it is on
"Meet the contest winners" night
They were back near her dressing room
For a good 20-30 minutes
Lucky Ducks

By this time, we had to leave
Our "contact" had to leave
So that means we had to
But it was very cool to stand
On the Fiddler's stage

So, we merged into the HUGE crowd
At the stage door
Waiting for you-know-who
And out she comes
Smiling and surrounded by yellow

Signing Playbills
Smiling for the camera
Her arm around your shoulder

I don't think she missed
One, single, Playbill
That's our girl

I got my glance afterall
And her sig
And her smile
And her "Hi, how are you?"
And her arm
Over my shoulder

Then off she went
Hopped into her waiting SUV
Which was, of course,
Stuck on 45th St in after-theatre traffic

We virtually walked beside it
On our way to 8th Ave
So I stopped..
And waved like a goofy-girl

And she waved back at me
From inside

No one else was waving
So I knew it was especially
For me

I think that was the
Best part of the whole meeting

The wave.

taking off

Just a quickie
As I'm packing us up

Us for The Big Apple
We leave at lunch tomorrow
And my very smart 2 year old
For Grandma & Grampa's in the morning

She has her Disney Princess
Wheelie suitcase all packed
And her matching Disney Princess
Duffle bag for her "goodies"
She calls them
You know,
Her DVD's, some toys, books
Stuff like that

Will be home late Sunday night
But I likely won't be able to
Fill you in until Monday

Have a great weekend everyone~!

a discovery

So I get energetic this afternoon
And start going through my
DVD's and CD's
Packing them up

And I've made a discovery
Just based on my CD collection

I'm a big 'ole lesbian.

It's true.

I do have quite a mix of music
But I have COMPLETE CD collections
Of the following:

Melissa Etheridge (even bootlegs)

k.d. lang
(even ones where she makes "appearances"
like the soundtrack to "Anywhere But Here"
Who's heard of that movie, anyway?!?!)

The Indigo Girls
(that's gotta be a sure-fire sign,
as they aren't quite as mainstream
as the above 2)

Others?

Sophie B. Hawkins, Melissa Ferrick, M'shell N'gedecello, Ani Difranco, Carole Pope...

Haven't heard of some of these?
Well, it's cuz you're not a lesbian
Like me.

Oh yeah
Not to mention I have 3 volumes
Of 3 different Lilith Fair Soundtracks
(2 of which I ATTENDED, by the way)

Oh well
What can I say
I guess I just dig chicks
Who can sing

Can that be it?

;)

giving thanks

This weekend is
Canuckie Thanksgiving

See, we have ours WAY before
Yours
So we have LOTS of time
To recover before Christmas

Plus, there is no such thing as
"99% OFF the ENTIRE store!!"
In Canada
So we just have our turkey this weekend
Without the sales..

I do give thanks for blogger, though

I have made some pretty great and fun
Stranger-friends since I joined in April
It's so amazing how you really get to know them
From just a few words a day, isn't it?

But, in light of the holiday
I'm doing a Canuckie thing here
For my fellow Canucks...

Rumour: To go with YOUR Thanksgiving Turkey (be careful driving to Thompson)

And Heidi: To go with YOUR 'dinde' (crossing my fingers for you and the contest)

And for moi: to go with MY dinner(cuz I'm craving the leftovers already)

Happy Thanksgiving!

october????

Today
It's 30 degrees celcius
(86 or so for my US friends)

It's effing Canada
In effing October
And it's effing
Hot and humid
And smoggy
(oh joy)

The trees have all turned
As its cool at night
Yellows
And oranges
And my favourite
Red (from the maples)

But we can't go out to enjoy it
Or walk through them
Because it's too effing hot

Oh yeah,
It's Thanksgiving this weekend here
Turkey on the Barbie
Doesn't sound right to me

I've decided that I never
Want to live anywhere
That the seasons don't change

It's boring
I like my summer to go from June to September
Fall from October to November
Winter from December to March
And Spring from April to May

It just doesn't feel right
When you're putting your Halloween stuff up
In your shorts and tanks

Nope
Not right at all.

better than a mousepad

All is good here
Thanks for the comments
Just dealing with a cold at the moment
One for me
And one for my very smart 2 year old

Nothing serious
Just the sniffles
And sneezing
And blah's

Also had to get Hub ready
He headed to Chicago today
For 4 days
For a conference
You know how men need help
Packing...

So..back to my title

My best friend since highschool
Is a lighting designer
Broadway, operas, travelling companies, etc
I tell her that Hub and I are heading
To NYC in 12 more days
Told her that I am very excited
To see Fiddler

So, in the meantime
She puts a call in to one of
Her 'cronies'
Who apparently always knows
WHO is working on WHAT show
On the Great White Way

Turns out this guy
Is working Fiddler himself

What does he do?
Because he is a such a good pal
Of my pal
He puts mine and Hub's name
On the guest list for the night
That we're seeing the show

What does that mean exactly??

It means a backstage tour (cool)
Which I think could POSSIBLY
Include a Rosie sighting

What do you think?
I'm crossing my fingers, anyway...

I think I'm already closer to a
Rosie sighting
Than a Rosie mousepad

And I think that IF I get the chance
To say anything to her
I'll be opening with
"This is definitely better
than my missing mousepad"...

Think that'll get a chuckle?
I do :)
