A little girl
They named her Jade

A new baby is such a

As I just see her drive up
Newborn Jade in the backseat
Strapped safely in her carrier

For the last 9 months

The Sounds of Sunday Morning

I love Sunday mornings

Even though I do get up early
And don't get to hang out in bed
That long anymore
I still love them

Especially this morning

I woke up to
"Mommy, want to come in my bed?"
Being asked
Via the monitor

So I hop in
With my darling daughter

"Did you have a nice sleep?"
"Yes"
"Did you have some nice dreams?"
"Yes"
"What did you dream about?"
"Hmmm....puppies, kittens and princesses"

Wow.
Toss in winning the lottery
And that sounds like the perfect
Dream to me, too
;)

Then she wants to go in our bed
And watch TV
OK.

So I set her up
And 'cozy" her in
Flick on the tube
Dora is on first
Perfect!

I then come in here to check my mail
And check blogs
While she watches
Then something else comes on afterwards
That has her hysterically laughing

She is literally
Laughing her ass off

I don't even know what it is
But I love the sound of it.

Kids are lacking it
Nowadays

Now, I'm no expert
I just know what I see
And what I witness

I see temper tantrums
Being thrown
Parents being hit
And bitten by thier kids
I see aggressive behaviour
From an aggressive kid
To a non-agressive kid
And the parents just react with a
"Ok Liam...share"
or
"No hitting, Tommy"
While the kid ignores them
And continues on

There is such an emphasis
Put on confidence lately
And how disciplining your kids
In a certain tone of voice
Will "scar" them for life or something

Bullshit.

When your kid hits someone
You tell them firmly how
Unacceptable that is
If they do it again
You remind them again
But, if they do it a third time
It's time to remove them
Tears or tantrum
Whatever happens
You remove them

I'm not an army sargeant
Don't get me wrong
But my two year old
Does NOT hit
Or grab
Or bite
Or kick
Other kids
Or me
Or her Dad
Or anyone

She knows that behaviour is wrong
She knows because I have told her
In a firm voice
That it is

And she has all the confidence
That a two year old could have

So, at preschool
I see a 2 and a half year old kid
Pick up a toy fire truck
And SMACK his mother
Across the face with it

We went to The Wiggles
On Tuesday night
The kids loved it
Went with a friend of mine

And 2 two-year-olds

But it was fun

So we spent yesterday
Getting caught up on sleep
We both napped for 3 hours yesterday

I have been nursing a headache
Since Tuesday morning
And I'm paranoid to take Tylenol
Even when they say you can
So I don't
I suffer through them

It had to be the Halloween candy
From MOnday night
That, and a combination
Of all the shit we have going on

So, that's where I've been
